Running a Celebrating Children training course is a major undertaking. Considerable planning is required before starting the course and significant administrative support is needed throughout the duration of the course. This page aims to provide a summary of the main administrative tasks.
Please see chapter 4 in the Celebrating Children course manual for further information about adminstering the course.
Main Areas of Administration
BUDGETING & FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT
A course budget is needed in order to determine the fees charged to participants and to ensure that adequate donor funding is sought where necessary. Costs may include hiring venues, course retreats, catering, speakers fees and travel costs, production of publicity material and adminstration costs.
An accounts function will be needed to handle income and expenditure over the duration of the course
PUBLICITY
Production and distribution of fliers and newsletters advertising the course.
DEALING WITH APPLICANTS
Potential applicants that learn about the course will request detailed information about course, content, schedules and fees. Some organisations will want to sponsor their staff's training and perhaps send several members to attend a course.
ARRANGING SPEAKERS
Whilst a course facilitator may present a significant portion of the course visiting speakers enhance the course by bringing a broader perspective and specialist knowledge or experience. Tasks include identifying and inviting suitable speakers and trainers, briefing them, providing directions to the venue and arranging hospitality.
VENUE AND SESSION MANAGEMENT
Tasks include booking venues, preparing the training room, preparing session resources for participants, hand outs etc. and arranging for refreshments and meals during breaks.
Accreditation
The work of accrediting Celebrating Children in the UK (NVQ level 3) and ensuring that people working with children and young people there can access the course at reasonable cost is being co-coordinated and managed by the Christian Child Care Forum (CCCF). Therefore, if you wish to know more about how to access the course in the UK or want to know the latest information on the accreditation process, please contact CCCF email: info@christianchildcareforum.org.uk and visit www.christianchildcareforum.org.uk
