MODULE TWO - Key Issues in Listening to Children
At the end of this module students should have an understanding of the importance of listening to children and involving them in a participatory way as valued contributors to the development process.
Participants examine ways in which adults listen to children and the role of listening in assessing how to best help children. Ways in which caregivers can respectfully listen to children are explored.
Time is spent considering the Convention on the Rights of the Child Article 2 on the rights of children to speak, be heard and participate in development. Ways in which children can be involved in program and policy planning are looked at.
Participants look at the need for advocacy for children and consider practcial ways of designing advocacy activites.
